I’ve traded services since I first opened my business last November.

I’ve exchanged a free year of training to two members because they put in irrigation and new sod for my entire yard (something I had to do anyway)!

I’m about to trade training services for administrative help (I’ll hire a virtual assistant later down the road when I need more help).

And I’m always looking for other potential trades.

I had a black cat walk across my path yesterday and it gave me the creeps. I don’t know why, because I am an animal lover, but I just don’t like cats. It’s like they can see into your soul. Very creepy.

Chad, It depends. People I don’t have a relationship with or people who don’t have a list of fitness business owners are paying for a sponsor spot right now. Other times I will trade a sponsor spot in exchange for them promoting the show to their large list of fitness business owners. Once I reach 10,000 unique views per week, I won’t be doing any more tradeouts and will charge for all spots. Plus right now it’s cheap to sponsor so it’s not tough to find someone looking for inexpensive exposure. The giftcards we use (and sell) have “perceived” value. You can put whatever offer you want on it. We don’t slide it in a machine, but it looks like we would. It has all of the selling benefits of a “real” giftcard, but without all of the technology considerations. And they’re super cheap. Call Chris with Fitness Marketing Group at 1-866-273-9217 and tell him you’re friends with me and he’ll get you the best deal.

I like it man. That’s actually a great idea. I’ve done 5 referrals for a free year, but yeah, why not offer to pay for the 6th person. And the 7th, etc. Great idea for that “champion” who refers tons of people. They’ll be a good example for others to follow. Great tip!
